An elderly man has died in hospital more than two weeks after he was hit by a bus in London’s Oxford Street.

The 82-year-old pedestrian was knocked down at about 3.30pm outside Debenhams department store on May 23.

Air ambulance medics treated him at the scene before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but he died today.

His family have been informed.

Police said the bus driver involved in the crash was not arrested and is assisting officers with their investigation.

The man’s death comes after a 73-year-old woman, who was struck by another bus in Oxford Street just 24 hours after him, died in hospital on May 31.

Transport for London said it had launched a full investigation into both incidents.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for any witnesses who saw the May 23 collision to call Merton Traffic Garage on 020 8543 5157.
