A Met Police staff member has been sentenced in court after he was found to have perverted the course of justice.
Necati Mer Gulec, was a Police Community Support Officer attached to the Roads and Transport Policing Command.
He appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday where he was handed a six month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
He was also ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
Chief Inspector Lynne Forster, of the RTPC, said: “PCSO Gulec has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, behaviour which is completely unacceptable and undermines confidence in our organisation.
“This is an extremely serious offence and we will take the strongest action against Met staff who fall short of the high standards expected.
“Following the conclusion of the criminal matters, we will now continue our internal misconduct proceedings.”
On August 9, 2021, Gulec claimed his MPS tablet had been stolen from him while off duty.
Subsequent investigations concluded that this did not occur, leading to his arrest.
