Three people have been injured by falling bricks after the roof of a building collapsed in south London.

Masonry began raining down on passers-by from the roof of a flat above Rage Hair and Beauty in London Road, Norbury at about 11.45am today.

A man and a woman were taken to hospital by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) following the incident, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

A further person was hurt by falling debris but none of the injuries sustained were thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Pictures from the scene showed piles of bricks on the pavement outside the beauty salon.

Fire crews were called to the scene and evacuated 14 people from inside the property, all of whom escaped unharmed.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said the building had been ruled "unsafe" and people were advised to avoid the area.

The road was closed southbound at Green Lane and was expected to remain shut for several hours.
