Housing crisis? What housing crisis? Last night the Chilterns, a luxury apartment complex being built on Chiltern Street, was launched at One Marylebone. The cheapest flat in the building, due for completion in 2015, will set you back £3 million, with access to a communal cinema, optional wine cellar and a David Bailey photograph as part of the bargain.

Bailey was at the preview and 44 of his photos of the local area were on display. “The best way to see a place is to photograph it,” he told me. “You don’t always see a place, a person, a park until you look at a photograph.”

His subjects included fish and chip shops, deli owners and an elderly woman doing her make-up. “I didn’t tell them who I was,” Bailey admitted.
