Mr Selfridge’s self-mockery

Jeremy Piven, star of ITV’s Mr Selfridge, was at Mayfair’s Royal Institution last night for TimesTalks, the first of the International New York Times’s London discussions.

Also known for playing a “fast-talking, foul-mouthed agent” in the TV comedy Entourage, Piven revealed that “some folks thought that show was a documentary. I once had a gentleman ask if I could represent him. It was pretty awkward.”

Asked how he found filming in England, the actor self-mockingly replied that he was “very aware of how horrific my American accent is. I’m surrounded by all these beautiful, lyrical English accents and then I hear my own voice and want to punch myself in the face.”
