Ruby Wax's degree is for comedy

Comedian and mental health campaigner Ruby Wax will receive a Masters postgraduate degree at Oxford next month — the result of two years studying mindfulness-based cognitive therapy past-time at the Department of Psychiatry.

“It’s a ‘toofer’ — two-for-one,” Wax, 62, told me at the Edinburgh literary festival.

“Not only do I get my degree but my thesis forms the basis of my next one-woman show. You know what they say — if you can make a schizophrenic laugh, he’s halfway to Broadway.”
