Boris Johnson has ordered a review of a £1 billion deal he signed last year with a Chinese firm planning to build a huge financial district in Docklands.

The Mayor was responding to a Channel 4 News investigation last night into the tendering of the 35-acre publicly owned site at Royal Albert Dock.

The programme made claims about the alleged “cosy” relationship between the Mayor’s inward investment agency London & Partners and property group ABP, suggesting it may have received favourable treatment, claims it has denied.

The project, which includes 3.2 million sq ft of office space and 845 flats, is believed to be China’s largest property investment in the UK. The Mayor’s spokesman said he had commissioned a review of the procurement arrangements.
