Theresa May enjoyed a cone of chips and a cuppa while out on the campaign trail in Cornwall today.

The Prime Minister was in the seaside village of Mevagissey when she stopped for a portion of chips, merrily tucking in in front of her campaign team and members of the public.

She was due to make a speech to voters nearby this afternoon.

But onlookers said she had broken one of the cardinal rules of politics by deciding to eat while under the gaze of cameras.

Former Labour leader Ed Miliband was ridiculed in the run-up to the 2014 elections after an unflattering photo was taken of him while eating a bacon sandwich.
