BBC staff have complained of being tripped up by new revolving doors at their revamped London headquarters.

Bosses have been told about workers at New Broadcasting House injuring themselves going through the doors.

One complaint was received from project technologist Rob Pobjoy, who said he either hurt his toes or his heel, depending on how fast he walked through the spinning doors.

Mr Pobjoy said: “Most days, on my way in and out of NBH (New Broadcasting House), I often find my heel being pushed by the revolving door.

“As far as I’m aware, I walk at a normal pace. Yet, it seems to me that if I attempt to keep pace, I seem to be going too fast, resulting in my toes kicking the door.

“It is my belief that the compartment is too small.”

Ian Jolly, a newsroom worker, said that despite “going through doors” all his life, the revolving doors at New Broadcasting House were difficult to navigate because they were “over-engineered”.

Writing in the BBC’s internal magazine Ariel, he said: “I’ve been told my problem is that I ‘go through the door too late’.”

The corporation’s revamped headquarters, which cost £1  billion to redesign, saw more than 6,000 staff from audio and music and news and vision departments move in at the start of the year.

The BBC refused to make a comment about the claims.
