Boy, 14, stabbed to death

12 April 2012

A 14-year-old boy has been stabbed to death following a fight with a group of youths, police said.

The youth suffered a single wound to the stomach during the incident at St Thomas's Place, Hackney, east London, shortly before midnight on Saturday. He died later in hospital.

A teenage girl, believed to be aged around 16, was also slashed during the attack and remains in hospital.

Officers were called to reports of an assault at 11.46pm.

Emergency services took the boy to an east London hospital suffering from a stab wound. A girl was also taken for treatment to injuries sustained in the attack. The boy was pronounced dead shortly after 8am on Sunday.

It is believed that both had been involved in a fight with a group of youths prior to the stabbing.

No arrests have been made in relation to attack and police are appealing for witnesses.

Scotland Yard said they believe they know who the victim is, but were awaiting a formal identification before releasing a name. Next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place at the Royal London Hospital.

The latest incident brings the number of teenagers killed in London this year to 25.
