Second Pret A Manger allergy death victim identified as dental nurse Celia Marsh

Celia Marsh died last December after she is believed to have eaten a “super-veg rainbow flatbread” from Pret A Manger which was supposed to be dairy-free

The second customer thought to have died from an allergic reaction after eating a product from Pret a Manger was today named as dental nurse Celia Marsh.

She is thought to have suffered a fatal allergic reaction after buying the sandwich from a store in Bath on December 27, 2017.

Pret said it was mis-sold a guaranteed dairy-free yoghurt by CoYo, a coconut milk brand that has been endorsed by TV cook Nigella Lawson, and is reported to be in the process of taking legal action.

CoYo recalled the yoghurts in February, following a probe by the Food Standards Agency, but has denied this was linked to Ms Marsh’s death.

It has accused Pret of hampering its own investigation by failing to provide key information.

A spokeswoman said: “The dairy-free product we provided to Pret in December 2017, at the time of this tragedy, is not linked to the product we recalled in February 2018.

“Pret’s inability to provide us with a batch code, despite several requests, has severely limited our ability to investigate this further.”

The 15-year-old from Fulham collapsed on board a flight after eating an artichoke, olive and tapenade sandwich bought at Heathrow.

Pret announced last week that it will include full ingredient labelling on all of its products in the wake of the tragedy.

A spokesman for Avon Coroner’s Court said an inquest into Ms Marsh’s death will be held at a date yet to be fixed.

A Pret spokesman said: “Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of our customer in this terrible case and we will seek to assist them in any way we can.”
