The Surrey firefighters who battled yesterday's devastating blaze at Clandon Park House have offered their own chapel up to couples who were planning to marry at the historic venue.
However, the Standard understands Surrey Fire Service's chapel is not licensed to hold weddings, and so the county council has stepped in to try and find alternative venues.
With one couple originally hoping to marry on Friday, it faces a race against time to make any arrangements.
Grade I listed Clandon Park House was partly gutted by Wednesday's fire, which at its height saw more than 60 firefighters trying to contain it. Fortunately no one was hurt.
Earlier today the Standard reported that Dan Nickols and Hollie Watt had been planning to tie the knot tomorrow at the stately home.
Mark Nickols, 31, best man and brother of the groom, said family and friends were "phoning all the venues we can think of in Surrey" in case any were free on Friday.

Today Surrey Fire and Rescue tweeted that couples whose wedding was booked for Clandon Park later this month should "please get in touch" as "we would like to help".
Meanwhile IT consultant Peter Page and his fiancée Helen Ansell were due to get married at Clandon Park House next month. "Can any wedding venues in Surrey let me know if they have any availability?” he tweeted.
The Surrey fire service responded by tweeting at both Mr Page and Mr Nickols. "We have contacted @PagePeter1 directly and offered our chapel and conference room to host the wedding," it tweeted.
With the chapel ruled out, it is not yet known how many couples the council will step in to help in the aftermath of the fire.
