US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has arrived in Haiti to see the damage left by the massive earthquake which hit the country for herself.
Mrs Clinton arrived in the capital Port-au-Prince on a US Coast Guard C-130 transport plane carrying bottled water, packaged food, soap and other supplies.
She will hold talks with Haitian President Rene Preval and receive an update on earthquake relief efforts.
When asked by reporters aboard her aircraft what she hoped to accomplish, Mrs Clinton said she wants to "listen to him, to be sure we are as responsive as we need to be".
She also plans to meet with UN officials and US civilians and military personnel working on the relief effort.
On her departure, Mrs Clinton said 50 US citizens will also be on her plane back to America.
Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama has held talks with predecessors George Bush and Bill Clinton after asking them to co-ordinate efforts to involve more Americans in the recovery and rebuilding effort needed in Haiti.
Mr Bush said the most effective way for people to help is to "just send your cash", while Mr Clinton said he believes Haitians can build a better future if Americans do their part.
