Couple remanded over toddler death

12 April 2012

A couple have appeared in court charged in connection with the death of a three-year-old boy.

Christopher Taylor, 23, and 18-year-old Kayley Boleyn, were charged with causing or allowing the death of Ryan Hancox-Lovell, Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court heard.

Ryan, who was the son of Boleyn's cousin, died on Wednesday at Birmingham Childrens' Hospital after suffering head injuries.

Taylor and Boleyn, both of Slim Avenue, Bradley, Wolverhampton, spoke only to confirm their names and addresses at court.

They did not enter a plea. During the ten-minute hearing the court heard the charges related to offences between December 1 and December 23.

Both were remanded in custody to next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on January 5.

A post-mortem examination will take place tomorrow. Ryan was taken to hospital from a property on Slim Avenue shortly before 11pm on Monday night, police said.

Taylor appeared in court wearing black track-suit bottoms and a black t-shirt. Boleyn wore a green jumper and grey track-suit bottoms.
