A 19-year-old man has died after falling ill at Creamfields festival.

In the early hours of Saturday, police were called by medical staff at the dance music festival in Daresbury, Cheshire, after he had been spotted looking unwell.

The medical staff took him to a nearby tent to be assessed by a doctor, before he was then taken to Warrington District General Hospital.

But Cheshire Police said on Sunday morning: “Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone concerned, the man has since died at the hospital.”

His family are aware, the force added.

Det Insp Alistair Hinze said: “There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“A file will prepared for the coroner and our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult time.”

A Creamfields spokesperson added: “We are deeply saddened to hear of this tragic accident.

“We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones and we continue to work closely with the authorities.”

On Saturday, a 17-year-old girl from Oldham died of a suspected drug overdose at Leeds Festival.

A 17-year-old boy, also from Oldham, was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.
