A man allegedly threw a woman down a flight of concrete steps because she was walking her dog off its lead.

Police said the woman, 35, was walking the dog in Manchester when a cyclist rode past and confronted her about the pet.

He reportedly grabbed her head and forced it against metal railings before hurling her down the steps.

Officers released a picture of a man they want to speak to about the incident on September 17 on Jackson’s Bridge, Chorlton.

Pc Damian Lea, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “The man was so enraged at the victim's dog being off the lead, he attacked her and threw her down some steps. Thankfully she was not seriously hurt but has been left shaken by what happened.

“We have released an image of a man we would like to speak to and would ask anyone who recognises him to call us. I would also appeal to the person directly to contact police so we can rule you out of our inquiries.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
