London is basking in a third day of unseasonably warm weather after yesterday's temperatures reached a new record.

London’s balmy “Mad March” spring heatwave will come to an abrupt end on Friday just as schools break up for Easter.

Forecasters said Londoners enjoying the weather in Trafalgar Square, left, should take advantage of the “wall to wall sunshine” today and tomorrow.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach the low twenties centigrade this afternoon and tomorrow.

A change of wind direction will see far chillier weather from Saturday when the temperature will peak at about 14C. On Sunday it will be around 12C with the chance of drizzle or light showers. Next week is also expected to be cool and overcast.
