Londoner Danny Griffin is about to enjoy his big break in a major new Netflix series — but he insists he isn’t interested in simply being “famous.”

The model and actor, 23, who is set to star in teen drama Fate: The Winx Saga, said he wants to be “gradually climbing” the “ladder” of the showbusiness over the next few years - and wants an acting career rather than flash-in-the-pan fame.

Speaking to Wonderland Magazine, Griffin said: “I am never in this for the short run. I don’t want to be famous, I want to be gradually climbing this ladder.”

He continued: “For me, it is quite simple. I love what I do and I want to get better at it as time goes on. Every job I do, I meet new people who have more advice to give and I learn something new. I do this because I love it, and there is nothing else in it.”

Griffin spoke about wanting an acting career rather than fame - and working with Hugh Grant

Set in a magical world, Fate: The Winx Saga is based on Nickelodeon’s Winx Club and centres around five girls each with different background and powers starting at a new school for fairies. Griffin’s character Sky is a love interest for Bloom (Abigail Cowen) and Stella (Hannah van der West - huysen).

Before the show, Griffin - who has been living with his grandparents in Hampstead throughout the pandemic - had a small part in The Gentlemen, the latest Guy Richie movie starring Michelle Dockery, Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant and Charlie Hunnam.

About the experience, he said: “That was incredible. I was just happy to be on that set; I didn’t care if I was Extra Number 1 with my three lines, one of which we can count as screaming.”

Griffin’s character dies in the movie - and said Grant made jokes about his demise.

“So I’m still just lying there on the floor when Hugh walks over and goes: ‘I thought you were very good, a little bit wooden for my taste though’, and then buggers off laughing,” Griffin said.

“That’s all I get from the master that is Hugh Grant.”
