Fund in killed prostitute's memory

12 April 2012

The parents of one of the five women killed in Suffolk have launched a charity fund in her memory.

Gemma Adams' parents have set up the Gemma's Gift appeal to raise funds for the Ipswich Children's Hospice.

A fundraising page has been set up at www.justgiving.com/gemmasgift for donations.

A message left on the page from Brian and Gail Adams reads: "Thank you for visiting the Gemma's Gift fundraising page, dedicated to our daughter who was tragically taken from us in November.

"The wish of our family and friends is that some good will come out of our terrible loss and we feel that Gemma would have been proud and privileged to contribute to such a worthy cause.

"Our local Children's Hospice in Ipswich gives care and support to life-limited children and their families and we feel donations in Gemma's name will be of some benefit to those who loved her, knowing that any contribution will bring maximum benefit to the children and families who use the hospice ... Many thanks for your support and well wishes. Brian and Gail Adams."

A fundraising target has been set at £500, and three donations totalling £80 had been received by 9.30am on Tuesday.

Miss Adams, 25, was found dead in a brook at Hintlesham, Suffolk, on December 2.

Steve Wright, 48, of Ipswich, has been charged with her murder and the murders of four other prostitutes - Tania Nicol, 19, Anneli Alderton, 24, Paula Clennell, 24, and Annette Nicholls, 29.

He has been remanded in custody until January 2, when he will appear before Ipswich Crown Court.
