A Glastonbury worker has become the second person to die at the festival after he was found dead in his tent.

Avon and Somerset Police were called after the man, aged in his 40s, was found in The Park on the world-famous festival’s Pilton site about 2.20pm on Tuesday.

A force spokesperson said on Thursday: “Sadly, the man, a member of the festival’s crew, was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”

It was the second fatality at the festival this year, after another man died in a “medical incident” in his tent in the early hours of Sunday.

He was later named as “ultra-talented” radio DJ Jason Winder, 48, whose friend Tim Newton paid tribute to as “a natural-born engager and entertainer”.

A police spokesman confirmed Mr Winder died at the scene in the area of Worthy Farm known as the old railway, and said his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The festival ended on Monday, though crew remain at the site to clear up and return it to fields that are ready for cows to graze on.

Photos on Monday morning showed the mammoth clean-up operation facing staff and volunteers, as thousands vacated the site in Somerset, leaving the ground strewn with litter including hundreds of thousands of plastic bottles.

This year’s event, attended by more than 200,000 people, was headlined by Arctic Monkeys, Gun N’ Roses and Sir Elton John.

Sir Elton brought the festival to a close on Sunday night, in what was billed as his final UK show before he retires from touring at the end of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
