Graduate 'harassed by police after split with Pc boyfriend'

Complaint: 24-year-old Katie Bowman
Conor Sheils17 July 2013

A forensic science graduate claims that her life has been made a living hell after she was allegedly harassed by police following a split from her police constable  boyfriend.

Katie Bowman said police stopped her more than 70 times for suspected offences including drink driving and assault, and as a result she could “barely leave the house”.

Ms Bowman, 24, alleges that she was targeted by Thames Valley Police officers from High Wycombe after she broke up with Pc Alexander Ash.

Papers obtained by her family suggest that 10 of the 40 intelligence reports on her were filed by a friend and colleague of Pc Ash. The family plans to take legal action to have the reports removed.

Thames Valley police said Ms Bowman’s claims of harassment by officers were “unsubstantiated”. It said some intelligence reports on her were removed following a review last year.
