The inquest into the death of zookeeper Rosa King who was killed by a tiger will open this morning.

Animal lover Ms King, 34, was mauled to death by the animal at Hamerton Zoo Park in Cambridgeshire on May 29 in what zoo staff called a “freak accident”.

Earlier this week it was announced the tiger which killed Ms King will not be put down as a joint investigation with Huntingdonshire District Council continues into what happened.

The decision was “fully supported” by Ms King’s family.

Ms King met wildlife presenter David Attenborough when he visited Hamerton Zoo Park in 2014 to film with cheetah Ares.

Police were called to reports of a serious incident at the site at 11.15am and that a tiger had entered an enclosure with a keeper.

Following her death, Ms King's family said she "lived and breathed a vocation that meant the world to her".

Tributes poured into her, calling her a “shining light” who will be greatly missed”.

The inquest into the death of Ms King is listed to be opened at Cambridgeshire Coroner's Court in Huntingdon on Wednesday.
