London cyclist dies in collision with lorry on charity ride from John O' Groats to Lands End

A cyclist who died in a collision with a lorry was on a charity bike ride from John O' Groats to Lands End.

Anna Roots, 34, from London, suffered fatal injuries in the crash on the A836 in Sutherland on Saturday afternoon.

Police Scotland said she and a friend were on a 12-day charity cycle ride from John O' Groats to Lands End, raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

The collision with the articulated lorry happened at about 3.15pm on the road at Bettyhill.

Officers previously appealed to members of the public with any information about incident to contact them on 101.
