A man arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in a brook has been released on bail, police said.

The body, which was that of a man, was recovered from the stream off Oldbury Road, Worcester, at about 9.30am on Friday after it was reported to officers by a woman walking her dog, West Mercia Police said.

The suspect was arrested on Friday and was being held in custody at Worcester's Castle Street police station before his release on Saturday night.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out but the results were found to be inconclusive.

Police are investigating the incident and have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Oldbury Road area between 5pm on Thursday and 9am on Friday to contact them.

Det Insp Jonathon Wallis, who is leading the investigation, said: "The details of what happened to this man are still far from clear."
