The intimate home video shows nine-year-old Meghan letting him play with her bunches and appearing to despair as he repeatedly spits out his dummy.

Despite having a close relationship as children, Mr Dooley told presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madely: "We’ve not got anything yet. At this point, who knows? This all goes back to Meghan, it’s her day and her happiness."

Appearing alongside her son via live video link from Oregon his mother added that the family were "so proud" of Meghan and said: "We've been supporting her her whole life."

She said it was an "honour" for the family to see Meghan marry a royal and added it was a "fairytale come true" for her dad.

Ms Dooley said: "I've heard that he's going to be over there and I'm sure that he will be giving her away. The arrangements are being made...

"I don't think he's waiting for his invitation, because I'm sure they already have the plans in place, and for me talking to him, he's very excited to be a part of it."

Mr Dooley later revealed he had last spoken to Meghan around three years ago while his mum had not seen her for 20 years.

The pair were invited to join GMB hosts at Windsor Castle for coverage of the big day.
