Obama due to meet Russian PM Putin

12 April 2012

US President Barack Obama's busy second day in Russia will include a session with the man some say is still the real power in Moscow.

Mr Obama and Russia's prime minister Vladimir Putin will have a working breakfast at Mr Putin's dacha.

Mr Obama has been critical of the former Russian president, suggesting he still has a foot in the Cold War.

Later, Mr Obama will meet with former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Mr Obama will also deliver the commencement address at the New Economic School before meeting Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev at the Kremlin.

The US president also has meetings scheduled with other people from across the spectrum of Russian society, including business leaders and Mr Medvedev's political opponents.
