1/18

The Queen is looking for a cushion and curtain-maker to take care of more than 1,000 rooms across a number of Royal homes.

The £22,000-a-year job has been advertised on the Royal website, and involves looking after luxury chairs, sofas and cushions in Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and St James’s Palace.

The position requires an “outstanding” applicant with “extensive” experience in soft furnishing and curtains and an ability to meet "challenging" deadlines.

The advert describes the job as “protecting heritage by leaving your own legacy".

It says: “It’s furnishing some of the most famous houses in the world. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

“Your challenge will be to provide curtains and soft furnishings that will maintain the presentation and functionality of these unique environments."

The deadline for applications for the job is April 6.
