The inquest into the death of 11-year-old Rhys Jones is set to resume.
Rhys was killed as he walked home from football practice in Croxteth Park, Liverpool, on August 22.
The city's coroner Andre Rebello is expected to order a Section 16 adjournment of the inquest hearing.
Officials say this will allow Rhys's death to be finally registered and for the matter to be referred to Liverpool Crown Court.
A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with the murder earlier this month.
The teenager has been remanded until May 23 when the case will be committed to the crown court.
On the same date, six others, who have been charged with assisting an offender in connection with the murder of Rhys, will appear before magistrates for committal to crown court.
They are Gary Kays, 25, Melvin Coy, 24, and James Yates, 20, all of Liverpool; and three youths, two aged 17 and a 16-year-old, who cannot be named.
