Rapper Slowthai has revealed his hopes of becoming a father after getting engaged last summer.
The performer met his girlfriend, Russian singer and model Katerina, online. They have been living with his mother during lockdown, but are looking to move in together and start a family.
He told ES Magazine: “It’s something that I’ve always wanted. I want my kid to have a similar childhood to the one I had, because I didn’t see it as a bad thing.”
The 26-year-old attracted headlines last February for making sexual comments to comedian Katherine Ryan at the NME Awards.
Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, was then heckled by people in the audience as he collected the hero of the year award, leading to a confrontation as he lept off the stage only to be restrained by security.
Footage of the incident went viral on Twitter and Slowthai quickly apologised promising to “do better”.
“It made me realise that there are things [I carry] from growing up that I’ve got to hash out and reflect on,” he told us. “I’m always trying to grow.”
