The parents of a nightclubber whose body was found in a river four weeks after he went missing have spoken of their grief.

Casper Flagg, 28, was last seen leaving Moles nightclub in Bath on Saturday November 28 and was captured on CCTV in the city a few hours later, at around 4.55am on November 29.

Police divers spent three days searching the River Avon near to where his car was found parked in Green Park Mews. Their search was hampered by high water levels.

A member of the public reported seeing a body at around 5pm on Saturday December 26 in the river at the Locksbrook sluish gates at Twerton.

Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed the body is that of Mr Flagg, and say they are not treating his death as suspicious. A post-mortem examination has failed to determine the cause of death and further tests are to be carried out.

Since Mr Flagg went missing, his friends and family launched a campaign to try to find him, including putting up hundreds of posters across the region, tracing his last steps during a vigil walk and with a Facebook group, attracting more than 31,000 members.

Mr Flagg, who lived in Radstock, graduated from Bath Spa University in 2006 with a degree in graphic design and worked as a playground equipment designer for Playforce in Melksham, Wiltshire. He lived with his parents Derek and Marian, who said: "Casper was a loving, caring son who had his whole life in front of him.

"We take comfort in knowing so many people cared, he will be forever in our hearts."

Mrs Flagg posted a statement on Facebook saying the discovery brought their "tortuous wait" to an end. She said: "We would like to thank Casper's friends who have worked so hard to help find him and thank everyone on Facebook who have prayed and sent good wishes."

She added that Casper had "given us great joy over the past 28 years".
