Horrific moment a 747 jet fell from the sky is caught on video

A shocking video has emerged showing the moment a 747 jet plummeted from the sky and crashed into a fireball in Afghanistan.

Seven American crew members on the cargo plane were killed yesterday when the plane came down shortly after take-off from the Bagram air base near Kabul.

The footage, thought to have been filmed using a vehicle’s dashcam, has emerged on YouTube an shows the airliner spiralling out of control above a road before crashing into the ground and exploding. Witnesses rush to the scene as a cloud of smoke fills the air.

“We did lose all seven crew members,” a spokeswoman for National Air Cargo (NAC), the firm responsible for the aircraft, said.

NAC president, Glen Joerger, said, “Safety is always our top priority. This is a devastating loss for our family and we’ll work diligently with authorities to find the cause.

“Most importantly our thoughts and prayers are with our crew members and their families.”

Killed in the crash were pilots Brad Hasler and Jeremy Lipka; first officers Jamie Brokaw and Rinku Summan; loadmaster Michael Sheets; and maintenance crew Gary Stockdale and Timothy Garrett.

In a statement the Taliban claimed responsibility for the crash.
