The trio have been transferred to the La Candelaria hospital.

The town mayor Jose Manuel Bermudez reportedly said it was a “miracle” no-one died as beachgoers dived for cover when the plane made its descent.

The pilot is believed to have radioed air traffic controllers at Tenerife Norte Airport to say the plane needed to make an emergency landing due to technical problems.

It is understood the aircraft was heading towards an aerodrome before it landed on the beach.

Emergency services including police and firefighters were scrambled to the beach following the crash landing.

It was reported fire crews cordoned off a stretch of beach to remove unburned fuel that had spilled upon the impact.
