Russia hands over adorable puppy to French ambassador after death of police dog Diesel

This is the adorable puppy handed over to France by Russia in a sign of solidarity following last month’s terror attacks in Paris.

French police dog Diesel was killed in a police raid targeting the suspected mastermind behind the attacks on November 13.

The seven-year-old Belgian shepherd was sent in to an apartment in the Parisian suburb of Saint Denis on November 23 before officers stormed the building.

But Diesel was killed after a suicide bomber blew themselves up.

Russia pledged to replace the dog and later revealed pictures showing a puppy called Dobrynya who would be gifted to France.

On Monday Russia's Interior Ministry gave the German shepherd puppy, named after a Russian fairy-tale knight, to French ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert.

Mr Ripert said the gift of the puppy was "a gesture that comes from the heart", and added "it shows the relations between Russia and France quite well".
