Three children were among 26 people who died after a tour bus caught fire near Taiwan’s capital.

The coach smashed into a roadside barrier on a highway in Taoyuan City before bursting into flames, Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) reported.

It had been transporting Chinese tourists to the city’s airport to catch a flight to Dalian as part of an eight-day tour.

Lu Jui-yao, an official with the National Highway Police Bureau, said: "The fire moved very fast. All 26 died."
