A female jogger believed to have been kidnapped has been found tied-up on side of a busy road 150 miles from her home – 22 days after going missing.

Sherri Papini, 34, disappeared from her home town of Mountain Gate in California after going for a run on November 2.

According to the New York Post, the mother-of-two was found on Thursday when she flagged down a motorist on a busy interstate road.

Shasta County sheriff, Tom Bosenko told local media she was “tied with restraints” when she was discovered.

He added that she had “been released by her captors”- who are believed to be two Hispanic females driving a dark-coloured SUV.

It was also reported that they were armed with a handgun.

Mrs Papini's husband Keith reported her missing after she failed to pick up the couple’s two-year-old son and four-year-old daughter from day care.

He was forced to pass a lie detector test before being cleared of any involvement.

Police are offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to their arrest.

Mr Bosenko said: “This is a critical, active ongoing investigation.”
