PM to plead for Brexit backing at five-day debate

Theresa May will insist her Brexit deal will lead to a “better future outside the EU” for the UK as a debate on the plan begins today.

The Prime Minister will say leaving the bloc means Britain is “in charge of our own destiny” and can seize on important trade deals.

Senior MPs wrote to the House of Commons Speaker asking him to begin contempt proceedings.

He said the application would be considered and that MPs will vote on whether to refer the case to the Standards Committee.

Revealed: huge scale of rail timetable shakeup

The “unprecedented' scale of a timetable shakeup that wreaked havoc on the UK’s rail lines has been revealed in a new report.

Almost half of passenger services were affected by the changes made, the Transport Select Committee analysis showed.

The changes on May 20th involved 42,300 individual tweaks and affected 46 per cent of the Uk’s rail users, according MPs’ report.

Trumps pay respects as Bush lies in state

Donald Trump and his wife Melania paid their respects to President George HW Bush as he lay in state at the US Capitol rotunda.

President Trump made a brief visit to the rotunda, where the public can visit the coffin until the former US leader’s funeral on Wednesday.

Mr Bush, who died on Friday aged 94.

He will be buried at his Texas home alongside his wife, Barbara, who died in April.

Ballon d’Or host sorry for remarks

A Ballon d’Or co-host has apologised for asking the winner of the first ever women’s award Ada Hegerberg to twerk live on stage.

The Norway international and three-time women’s Champions League winner abruptly said “no” before walking away at last night’s gala.

Hegerberg told later reporters that she accepted the apology from host Martin Solveig, who responded to fierce criticism online.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric was crowned winner of the men’s award during the ceremony.

He is the first Croatian to win the individual prize.

‘Queen said royal protocol is rubbish’

Michelle Obama has said the Queen branded royal protocol "rubbish" when they met during a visit to Windsor Castle.

The Queen collected her and Barack Obama from their helicopter during their last visit of his presidency.

Speaking at an event in London last night, the former First Lady said the monarch told her protocol is “all rubbish” and said “just get in” as they arrived.
