Warriors and Wolves share the spoils

Joel Monaghan, left, scored a brace of tries in the draw against Wigan

Warrington's veteran stand-off Lee Briers landed the 68th drop goal of his Super League career to earn his side a share of the spoils from a bruising and fiery 17-17 clash against Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Wigan scrum-half Matty Smith thought he had won it for the home side when he calmly slotted a drop goal to break the deadlock nine minutes from the end, but the wily Briers had the final say to ensure a draw from a match neither side deserved to lose.

Joel Monaghan crossed over for a brace of tries and Richie Myler added one - after the break - for the Wolves as Brett Hodgson added the extras before Briers struck late on. Josh Charnley, Ben Flower and Liam Farrell scored a try apiece for the home side as Pat Richards converted twice and Smith added his drop goal within the last 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, the clash between Hull and the Bradford at the KC Stadium has been postponed following the closure of the M62.

The match will now be played at 3pm on Sunday after some of the Hull players were still attempting to arrive at the stadium after the scheduled 8pm kick-off.

The Bradford team coach had earlier been caught up in the congestion, caused by an over-turned tanker between junctions 34 and 35, but had arrived at the stadium by 7.30pm.

Following the traffic chaos, which had also slowed Bradford fans heading east along the M62, the game was initially delayed until 9.15pm.

But after further problems the Rugby Football League announced the game would be delayed until Sunday.
