DJ Arielle Free returned to BBC Radio 1 on Monday after an incident which saw her pulled off air after a heated on-air exchange with colleague Charlie Hedges.

The incident occured last month when Hedges, 37, was presenting her Dance Anthems show and Free, 36, joined her broadcast as a guest live from the Ibiza Rocks hotel.

Problems arose when a worse for wear sounding Free caused offence by giving Hedges some unsolicited advice about her music choice and interrupting her.

Hedges then told Free to put down the mic, “have some respect” and get out of her DJ booth.

After the June 29 Ibiza incident, it was decided following talks with the BBC that the Scottish broadcaster would not be hosting her show last week.

At the time a BBC spokesperson told the Standard: “Whilst we would not comment on individual matters, we have strict codes of behaviour for staff and presenters, and any breaches are taken extremely seriously.”

Now following the furore, Free has taken to Instagram to share a photo of herself from her school years as she revealed what she’d be covering on her two-hour Radio 1 Relax show on Monday.

Choosing not to acknowledge the recent on-air furore, she wrote: “Tonight on your radio its all things chilled in the run up to tomorrow’s Scottish Highers, advanced highers and national 5’s exam results. A time I remember all too well.

“The track selection tonight is designed to help take your mind away from how ever you may be feeling right now. So expect some soul soothers, mood boosters and loads more yumminess.

“Two whole hours of one big musical hug,” she continued.

“Plus here’s a gift of the only high school picture my mum I ever bought because I somehow mastered having terrible ones done every other year. Come join!”
