Amal Clooney has revealed she consulted her husband George Clooney before taking on an Isis human trafficking survivor as a client.

The 38-year-old lawyer is preparing to take the terrorist organisation to court on behalf of Nadia Murad who was captured by Isis and used as a sex slave.

Speaking on US breakfast show, Today, Amal said: "This is something I discussed with my husband. We did discuss it and we are aware of some of the risks involved, of course.

"[George] met Nadia too and I think he was moved for the same reasons and he understood. I mean, this is my work."

Amal explained how Isis members killed six of her client’s eight brothers and her mother during the Yazidi genocide. Murad was captured and at times raped by two men at a time until she “fell unconscious”.

Amal dismissed claims that she was courageous in taking on Murad and said her client has received death threats from Isis.

"I don't think that anyone can feel that they're being courageous compared to what Nadia's doing,” she said.

“This is no joke. This is Isis and they have sent her very specific threats saying, 'We will get you back. We will do everything to you'."

Amal said she is risking her life to take the organization to court, but said that bombing Isis won’t stop the idea.

“You can't kill an idea that way,” she said.

“I think one of the ways to take action against that is to expose their brutality and their corruption. And part of the way to do that is through trial.”

Amal will today join Boris Johnson to urge world governments, NGOs and other organisations to join the campaign at the UN General Assembly in New York.
