Ant McPartlin’s estranged wife Lisa Armstrong has hinted that she has been left feeling lonely in the wake of their split.

McPartlin announced the end of his 11-year marriage to the make-up artist earlier this year.

On Sunday Armstrong liked a tweet from TV presenter Simon Thomas about coping with loneliness hours after McPartlin was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Thomas, who lost his wife Gemma to cancer last year, posted: “You never realise how lonely you are until it’s the end of the day and you got a bunch of things to talk about and no one to talk to.”

McPartlin was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into two cars, leaving a three-year-old girl in hospital.

He was said to have lost control of his mini as he approached a roundabout in Richmond, south-west London on Sunday afternoon.

He was taken to a South London police station after failing a roadside breathalyser test, before later being released.

In statement, the Met Police said: “A number of individuals were treated at the scene for minor injuries only.

“A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving after failing a roadside breathalyser test.”

“He has since been released under investigation. Enquiries continue.”

McPartlin recently made his return to TV after a lengthy stay in rehab where he was battling an addiction to prescription painkillers. He is currently presenting the new series of Saturday Night Takeaway with Declan Donnelly.

It is unclear if the show will air this weekend, with many fans calling for the show to be dropped in the wake of the incident.

Standard Online has approached representatives for ITV and McPartlin for comment.
