Bradley Cooper and Emma Watson have spoken out in support of Jennifer Lawrence’s essay on the gender pay gap in Hollywood.

Cooper, who was paid more than Lawrence for his role in American Hustle, has praised his co-star for addressing the ‘double standards’.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said: “There’s a double standard in the whole world, yeah, for sure. This is just one aspect.

“So anytime there’s a place where a voice can come out and be outspoken, that’s great.”

“I love strong women. I think it is making a difference.”

The A-lister, who is promoting his new film Burnt with Sienna Miller, credited the British star for recently backing out of a play after finding out she was being paid less than her male co-star.

He said: “One thing I could say is that's interesting because if you think that you only deserve a certain amount and that's not correct, it's about changing that mindset and sticking up for yourself the way that Sienna did.”

Watson, who has been outspoken about fair pay in the past, tweeted her support for Lawrence, writing:

“O Jennifer Lawrence I love you so. X.”

Jessica Chastain added: “Yessssssss! Get it girl xx.”

Earlier this week, Lawrence penned an essay for Lena Dunham’s newsletter, which read:

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d**ks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself.

“I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need.”
