Amanda Holden thinks her pal Cheryl Cole needs a "proper man" to look after her and says the singer's new French beau, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, is "sexy".

The Britain's Got Talent judge is good friends with the former Girls Aloud star, who has just begun dating Frenchman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, and thinks the brunette beauty seems happy in her latest relationship.

In an interview with new! Amanda explained: "I think Cheryl is a very special girl and she needs a proper man to really look after her.

"I met him briefly. He's French, he's got a beard, he's sexy. But he's not as sexy as my husband."

She then added: "She seems happy. She's been through the mill and she's a fighter."

New love interest: Cheryl Cole

The Crazy Stupid Love singer is also set to make her comeback on The X Factor, where she will be joined by Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh on the judging panel, and Amanda can't wait to see what outfits Cheryl opts for.

She added: "I think she's a goddess, and I think everyone will jump on board with her the minute she walks in the room. I can't wait to see what she's wearing. I'm terrible, most people say to me they watch Britain's Got Talent to see the frocks and I'll be watching X Factor to see the same!"
