Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has swapped her bouncing long locks for a seventies inspired crop.

Taking to Twitter to inform her fans of the drastic new look the 31-year-old tweeted: “I [heart emoji] the 70's #newdo colour is @lorealparisuk Casting Creme Gloss Berry Red 565. @percyhair thanks for the chop.”

The X Factor judge hinted at a possible new do on Monday morning when she uploaded a black and white picture of combs and scissors alongside the caption: “Long over due..”

Switching to a shorter look is clearly taking some getting used to as the Crazy Stupid Love singer uploaded a black and white snap of herself alongside the caption: “Morning people .. Getting to grips with my new "do".”

Fans were quick to flatter the singer with positive comments with one fan writing: “omg you look absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!.”

Another wrote, “wowowowow! Really suits you,” while one was less impressed and tweeted: "no cheryl, just no."
