Gwyneth Paltrow has insisted she is not a "bad mother" for giving her children gluten and dairy free meals.

Critics have accused Gwyneth Paltrow of being a "bad mom" after it was revealed that she prepares super healthy gluten and dairy free meals for her children.

However the 40-year old hastened to clear the facts: "What it is, is that my son [Moses] has very bad eczema and he's allergic to gluten and he's allergic to cow dairy. I try at home to make everything gluten-free for him because the difference in his comfort is unbelievable when he's sticking to what he's meant to be eating."

The actress's dietary control have often been under the microscope but she recently told Dr Mehmet Oz on The Dr Oz Show that: "I don't know where they get some of this stuff! They say I don't give my kids carbs, and I'm feeding them seaweed... I have no idea. But they eat Oreos, too, and they're normal kids."

The Iron Man 3 star does loosen the reigns from time to time allowing her children to give into their junk food cravings when they're out.

"My daughter gravitates toward fresh fruit and raw nuts but will inhale a bag of hot Cheetos at the airport. It's all about balance," she said. As a super treat, Paltrow has a "Coke a week" deal with Apple and Moses.

Her new healthy eating cookbook 'It's All Good' was released last week.
