Daisy Lowe says her mother Pearl is her “biggest inspiration”.

She said she had always looked up to her mother, who was the vocalist for indie bands Powder and Lodger in the mid-Nineties and an “It girl” of the so-called Primrose Hill set, along with Kate Moss and Sadie Frost.

Former Strictly contestant Lowe, 30, said: “I look up to my mum and I always have looked up to my mum. She has impeccable taste. She is so inspiring. And so multifaceted in all sorts of ways. I am really proud of her.”

Designer Pearl lives in Somerset with her husband, the musician Danny Goffey.

She said of her daughter: “She is my best friend. I speak to her every single day. I know it sounds a bit sickly but it is true.

"Because we don’t live near each other that is probably why we get on so well — we don’t live in each other’s pockets. We are both really feisty.”

Daisy, who lives in London, has been involved in Extinction Rebellion protests but was accused of hypocrisy for using private jets.

She said: “Doing what I do, I do end up having to fly. But I do try my best. I limit my single-use plastic as much as possible. But actually it is about changing things on a governmental level. That is going to make the biggest change.”

The mother-daughter do were speaking about a Christmas collaboration with handbag brand Radley. See the Lowe Edit collection here.
