David Beckham channelled Dr Dolittle as he made “friends” with koalas and kangaroos Down Under.

The ex-sportsman was all smiles as he frolicked with the native critters at a Sydney wildlife park with his chidlren, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13 and seven-year-old Harper.

Beckham cuddled up to a Koala, fed a troop of kangaroos and posed for a photo with a red panda.

But he looked apprehensive as he allowed a Tasmanian devil to crawl over his shoulders before posing with the marsupial on his head.

David, who is an ambassador for the Games, has spoken of the power of sport, describing the Games as “emotional”.

He said: “I know how sport can change people's lives, I know how sport has a real power to improve people's lives in many different ways.

“It's been such an emotional week for everyone involved. 500 competitors, over 1000 family members is such a special thing.

“These people have lived through difficult situations, and to see them perform in front of such an amazing crowd is really incredible.

“The power of sport really shines through. Life changing experiences, it's what it's all about.”
