David Beckham couldn’t resist cracking out the joke book in a bid to play his part in BBC Radio One’s Lol-A-Thon, in aid of Comic Relief.

Attempting to get a chuckle out of the BBCR1 hosts, the former football star shared a clip of his best joke online.

Speaking to DJs Chris Stark and Scott Mills Beckham said: “Hi Scott and Chris. Best of luck with the Radio One Lol-A-Thon.

“I have a joke for you. What did the elephant say to the naked man?”

He paused before delivering the punchline: “How do you eat with that?”

Beckham closed the crude joke by raising his eyebrow and offering a grin for the camera.

The DJs were clearly impressed as they hailed the joke “very cheeky”, adding a winking emoji.

Other stars that took part in the Lol-A-Thon included singer Anne-Marie and TV presenter Lorraine.

David proved he is every bit the proud father as he shared an image of a young Brooklyn scoring his first goal at Old Trafford in 2000.

He then reflected on the moment he rushed wife Victoria to the hospital after he had "just beaten Inter Milan in the Champion’s League".

Admitting he “couldn’t be prouder”, David went on to share a stream of adorable baby Brooklyn snaps.

He wrote: "20 years ago today this little man came into our lives. We couldn’t be prouder of the man he has grown up to become and the passion he has for everything he does. We love you Bust happy birthday big boy."
