Elizabeth Hurley – who turned heads when she worked the red carpet in that Versace dress in the 90s – is today celebrating her 50th birthday.

Hurley made her acting debut in the 1987 film Aria before going on to star in Estee Lauder campaigns and a raft of films and TV shows including Austin Powers, Bedazzled, and most recently The Royals, during a career spanning nearly three decades.

The model and actress famously dated Hugh Grant for 13 years, married Arun Nayar and got engaged to cricketer Shane Warne.

As well as being a mother to her 13-year-old son Damian, she is also godmother to David and Victoria Beckham's children Brooklyn and Romeo.

But despite a career in the spotlight, Hurley has opted for a more demure approach to her milestone birthday celebrations.

"I chose not to have a big party but several big lunches and dinners so I really get to see everyone I adore," she told Hello!

Speaking about her hopes and expectations for the next decade she said: "I'm expecting more of the same and then some.

"I love my life, I love change and I love new experiences. Saying yes is so liberating; it's my favourite word."
