Emily Atack has apologised to fans after they were held inside a theatre in Birmingham following the first night of her Talk Thirty To Me tour.

Atack, who performed at The Old Rep Theatre on Thursday night, tweeted: “Birmingham.. I can’t tell you how special you made my first show. What a wonderful audience. I laughed (and almost cried) with you all.

“I’m sorry for that scare at the end, how awful?! Hope you all got home safe! LOVE YOU ALL!”

Theatre-goers on Twitter praised Atack for returning to the stage to reassure them after they were reportedly held for an hour over reports of men with machetes outside.

One user tweeted: “They kept us in theatre 4 an hr. Police incident in station - 2 guys with machetes.”

Standard Online has contacted The Old Rep Theatre for comment.

Talk Thirty To Me will see Atack perform 11 more dates across the UK before wrapping up at Clapham Grand on May 23.

Atack will today team up with her I’m A Celebrity camp mate John Barrowman to host This Morning while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy the Easter break.

“I am absolutely over the moon to be joining This Morning with my best mate John Barrowman over Easter,” she told The Sun earlier this month.

“It’s a dream come true to be presenting one of my favourite shows. I look forward to being on the iconic sofa. We’re going to have so much fun.”

Willoughby crowned Atack the 2018 I’m A Celeb runner-up after she finished second to King of the Jungle, Harry Redknapp. Barrowman took third place.

This Morning is on ITV, weekdays at 10:30am
