I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here stories have topped our most read list on the showbiz section of standard.co.uk

Stars such as Melanie Sykes, Kendra Wilson and Jimmy Bullard getting stuck into jungle life but it was the swift departure of TOWIE’s Gemma Collins that seemed to really hit a nerve.

After leaving Australia Gemma tweeted to her 1.1 million followers: “Your support is overwhelming and can’t thank you enough through a very difficult time”

Meanwhile, X Factor’s Jake Quickenden and Edwina Currie have joined the show as the latest contestants.

From the jungle to the boardroom, The Apprentice also made our Top 5 most popular stories on Standard Showbiz with the latest candidate to be fired, Lauren Riley, claiming Lord Sugar only wanted to get rid of her because she is a lawyer.

You're fired: Lauren said Lord Suagr fired her because of her profession

Riley, who was criticised for giving a dull pitch to a room of marketing executives, claimed she had been unfairly portrayed by the way the programme was edited.

Stars including Billie Piper, Samantha Bond and Robert Lindsay have dared to bare for a very theatrical naked calendar.

The casts of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Great Britain, the phone-hacking comedy in which Billie starred at the National Theatre, posed with props and costumes for the Make A Difference Trust’s £10 calendar.

It definitely captured the attention of our readers.

And we were joined by a special guest this week which sent our @StandardShowbiz twitter account into overdrive.

Helping out: Lauren Platt joined the digital team as guest editor (Picture: Alex Lentati)

X Factor contestant Lauren Platt spent a day at the Evening Standard digital desk to try her hand at journalism.

Cheryl Fernandez Versini's protégé was getting stuck into the role and said she didn’t want to leave.
